World Food Championship in Las Vegas

Whew! We’re back from Viva Las Vegas! On Wednesday, Cheryl arrived in Vegas and joined the rest of the competitors in the entire World Food Championship for a welcome reception! The rest of the Fair Hills crew joined Cheryl on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Cheryl had her ingredient check, a US Foods marketing meeting, and a dinner for those 8 competing for US Food’s Next Top Product.

Friday, The Big Day! Cheryl had a competitor meeting in the morning to go over all of the rules and processes of the competition. She also had a kitchen check–making sure she had all of the proper tools and utensils! Here is a picture of Cheryl during her kitchen check!

Competition began at 12:30pm sharp. Chefs had until 4:45pm to turn in their recipe in hopes of becoming US Food’s Next Top Product. Cheryl was very busy preparing her Cranberry Chutney. However, she did have time for a quick interview! Cheryl served the chutney over a grilled pork loin. She had to make enough plates for all 4 judges! Cheryl had to walk the chutney down to the judging tent between 4:40-4:50pm!

Judging took place at the main stage on Fremont Street at 5:30pm. Cheryl had quite the fan club as you can see! Unfortunately, the Central Region’s Black Bean Sliders were named US Foods Next Top Product.

We are so proud of Cheryl and forever grateful to US Foods for this indescribable experience! Hope you are all looking forward to your Thursday dinner in summer 2014 when you can taste Cheryl’s Cranberry Chutney again!!
