May 2007 – Volume 2

Fair Hills ResortOK it’s the second in our May series…

The theme this week is Going Green

We are thinking hard about our carbon footprint this year, and for years to come. As far as dining, Cheryl, our head chef, will bring as much produce that is locally grown, into the resort menus as possible. Her husband plants dozens of acres so we’re very excited about eating locally grown foods!

Speaking of carbon footprints, we have purchased a bunch of bikes and will be having organized rides throughout the week. Some with a “leader” and some without…but we promise really well marked maps! We will be renting awesome tandem bikes, and “cruisers” along with some speedy bikes for those who need to log many miles before lunch!!

We hope that every single cabin will recycle paper, glass, aluminum and plastic. I have Ottertail County recyclers dedicated to picking up on a timely basis.

I guess it’s all about thinking green in 2007. There will be a prize given to the most environmentally friendly and conscientious guests! I know already that some of our guests from the Twin Cities bike to the resort for their vacation. Unless some of you come up with something more amazing than that, they may be the winners. The challenge is on! Be sure and let us know if you have some helpful hints when it comes to saving the environment at the resort.

Another friendly reminder…There will be no smoking in any of the cabins starting in 2007. If anyone has any issues with this, will you please call me to discuss?
